More about Fossilized Coral
Over 300 million years ago, the land that is now present day Utah was a shallow sea. The sea was abundant with rugosa, a now-extinct form of red horn coral. Over time, the sea dried, and geological processes agatized the coral into semi-translucent fossils. The stone is very rare, as commercial mining is no longer permitted. The material used here was mined many years ago and is considered a sought-after rarity.
